Llangybi Community Council represents a wide rural area, and incorporates the Ward of Silian and Llangybi.

The ward consists of small villages and hamlets, Silian, Betws Bledrws, Llangybi, Maes y felin, and Olmarch.

Creuddyn Bridge is divided between Llangybi and Llanfihangel Ystrad Community Councils, Cockshead between Llangybi and Llanddewi Brefi Community Councils.

The A485 travels through Llangybi Ward, Silian Ward is on the minor road that links the A485 and A482 towards Creuddyn Bridge.

Derry Ormond Tower, the historical obelisk overlooks the community and was built by the owner of the Derry Ormond Mansion in 1826.

In 1976 Ysgol y Dderi, an area community school, was opened as a result of the closure of five primary schools in the district.

Agriculture is the backbone of the community. It is also renowned for breeding Welsh Cobs to an international standard.

Three churches are situated in the ward, St Sulien in Silian, St Bledrws in Betws Bledrws, St Cybi in Llangybi; there are also three chapels – Bethel in Silian, Maesyffynon and Ebenezer in Llangybi.  The historical chapel “Y Cilgwyn” stands in the middle of Llangybi village, no longer a place of worship but a sports centre for the whole community.

Within Llangybi Community Council there are many small prosperous businesses, a golf club, and a caravan park.  A Memorial Hall stands on the outskirts of Llangybi village.

Surrounding Llangybi Community Council are the Community Councils of Llanfair Clydogau, Lampeter, Llanfihangel Ystrad, Gartheli, Llangeitho and Llanddewi Brefi.
